As described in the E-Commerce PKI CA CPS and the WISe-Server Certificate Policy, WISe-Server Certificates are certificates associated to a cryptographic key pair that may be used for verifying the authenticity of a Web site and to establish secure communications channels with the Web site by using the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) protocol. These certificates have become a standard for any company that is serious about the security of its Web site and of its customers’ data (e.g. credit card numbers, personal data collected over the Internet).

Pricing:
WISe-Server Certificates can be purchased for a period of 1 year or for a period of 3 years. The latter reduces the hassle of having to renew the certificate every year and is also cheaper.
