WISeKey HIGH TRUST STANDARD CERTIFICATES
[Download PDF Brochure in English
or French]
WISeKey High Trust Standard Certificates associate
the identity of a person with a digital identity. On one hand digital
certificates can be viewed as Digital Passports that inform Internet
users about their interlocutors' identity and ensure electronic
messages confidentiality.
Those certificates integrate seamlessly with the majority
of existing systems. They are user-friendly, each action being performed
via Windows-like active icons.
Main functions
WISeKey Digital Certificates provide
the capability for signing and deciphering of an electronic message.
Contrary to PIN code, digital signature is considered the most legally
robust electronic authentication method indicating:
- The integrity of the message,
- The identification of the originator
and,
- Her/his expressed intention
in it.
High Class Digital Certificates
WISeKey only authorizes high-class
personal certificates delivered through a face-to-face identification
process. That way, no doubt remains about the Internet user identity.
This high level of security is required in order to ensure a common
quality basis for digital certificates internationally and cross
sector interoperability.
WISeKey recommends to directly
generate High Trust Certificates in a physical device (smart card
or USB token) ensuring that no copy can be made during the generation
process of the digital certificate and subsequently, in posterior
use.
This choice increases the level
of security by reinforcing certified user identification and avoiding
any fake of identity.
Main Applications
WISeKey High Trust Certificates
owners can use their certificates with the following applications:
- Secure Email is the primary
application, which can be used with the majority of email client
software: it allows certified users to identify the message origin,
to encrypt emails (content confidentiality) and to sign messages
(integrity seal).
- Secure Web Access uses WISeKey
digital certificates in order to regulate access to online Portals
inner functionalities and to allocate privileges of services to
certified users.
- E-Forms use certified users'
private key to digitally sign Web-based Forms and to engage certified
users legal responsibility.
- PKI Virtual Private Networks
(VPN) use High Trust Certificates to establish, over Public Networks,
secured point-to-point or single-to-multipoint connexions and
after having checked certified users identities to grant them
access or not to the Organisation's Intranet.
